I recently purchased the Exceed 300 by JukI and I love the machine. Since the 600 is more well equipped (for quilting)and the same cost, I would definately consider it at this point. But then I quilt. General sewing, monograming, and quilting once you find and buy the additional presser feet is easy and comfortable. You can be as complex as you need to be, or keep it simple. Caution, if you move your machine around a lot, this one is pretty heavy.

I have been a home sewer and costumer for community theater for many years. With retirement looming, I wanted to upgrade to an computer directed sewing machine. I I did extensive research into all of the best machines (Bernina, Janome, Juki, Singer and Brother) even “test driving” several at a local sewing machine dealer. I was looking for a solid machine, reliable, quiet and able to finesse both delicate and strdy fabric. Of all the mid-range machines, the 300 seemed to have all of the features I wanted for a reasonable price. I have been very pleased with my purchase. Set up was easy…the instruction book is easy to follow with well written instructions and illustrations. The tension is easy to adjust, the automatic threader works every time, and I love the automatic thread cutter. My first project has been a tailored woolen coat. The stitches are beautifully even and the machine handled multiple layres of wool easily and negotiated the slick lining with ease. I suspect that I would have been pleased with any of the other machines I considered, but did not test. This machine, however, is everything I wanted and more. I hope to use it for many years to come.

My first machine had an issue where it only sewed at 2 speeds, and randomly would speed up, but the seller was amazing at working with me to try to trouble shoot and finally to replace the machine since it was defective. Even with only slow and slower as the speeds, I loved the features and stitching on it!

Second machine is sewing at various speeds and seems to be working great! I was able to sew through 20 layers (quilting cotton and shape flex interfacing) with no issue at all, and it didn’t even slow down as it switched from 4 layers to the 20! The presser foot glided over the bump without me having to adjust or ‘help’ it like I used to do on my old Brother machine. I’m putting it through the paces making purses, can’t wait to try and see how it does on vinyl! The throat space is amazing, the only thing I wish it had was a little clearer mark for 1/2″ seams, but I can fix that with a little washi tape. The lock stitch and thread cutter are my absolute favorite features but I haven’t even tried all the various stitches (and there are a ton!).
