Q&A: I have a Singer Prelude Sewing Machine: Tension off and thread is bunching?
Question by LaMegan: I have a Singer Prelude Sewing Machine: Tension off and thread is bunching?
I have gone through every single notch on the tension rod up top, and moved the little screw part on the bobbin every little bit it could be. I just replaced the needle and it’s brand new. I haven’t used my sewing machine in like 2 years but it’s been in the original box and hasn’t been damaged and it was lightly used before I stored it. I know my bobbin is correctly threaded because I completely took everything off and re-did everything because I got so frustrated. I am now beyond frustrated and looking for answers. Somebody please help!
its all oiled up and clean, those were the first things I did when I pulled it out of the box. Also the bobbin thread is the exact same as the top thread.
I’ve been told not put the tension up to 4 when doing a zig zag stitch, actually that’s what the manual says too.. I’m going to retry threading up top to see if he problem was that I had the presser foot down, but I have been tweaking the bobbin tension as I stated above. I’m not a newbie, I grew up sewing (mostly by hand) but I know how to use my machine, I just haven’t used it in 2 years. The tension is the only problem.

That machine needs cleaning and OILING You cannot let a machine sit for two years
Also make sure the Bobbin thread is the same weight or light weight then the upper thread.
