I’m looking for a heavy duty singer sewing machine (the industrial ones that are usually all metal) but don’t know which one to buy. Some say that they can sew through think layers of fabric, even denim, and some do not say it. That’s what I am really looking for, that and a lot of different presser feet for sewing zippers and hems. I was just wondering if anyone can reccomend a heavy duty singer with features like these, or if someone can even reccomend an electronic singer that they like better that can sew thick fabric as well.

To get the machine that will suit all of your needs you must “test drive”
the machine. There are many good machines can can handle multiple layers of fabric but each manufacture has so many models. So in order to test that the model will suit your purposes .. test drive. I have taken my own fabric to test drive the model I am interested in. I have stacked three layers of heavy denim and then changed to a thin chiffon to really ge the feel for what the machine can handle. ( yes I make them change the needle , or bring a package of my own)
You are accurate that the all metal machines do tend to be the best at think fabrics , that is because the horsepower of the motor is larger . An real industrial machine is wonderful for a very experienced sewer, but most have more stitches per minute that the average sewer will never use. Many industrial machines are limited in the number of special feet it will have, since the industry uses special machines for special functions.
Bottom line never believe a claim a manufacture makes, as it is limited to how they define/interpret the use . They may say it will sew thru thick fabrics but then they did not say how thick. Even denim has many different weights, so saying thick is subject to interpretation.
